Harmar

Harmar is a historic neighborhood in the city of Marietta, in Washington County.

• Located at the western side of the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio Rivers.
• The first pioneers of Marietta landed in April 1788, beginning by building cabins and planting crops along the river. 
• In 1974, 60 acres of Harmar was designated the Harmar Historic District and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

  

• Harmar has been connected by bridge to Putnam Street in Marietta proper; the first bridge was destroyed in the Great Flood of 1913 and a swing bridge constructed in its place, although the bridge has since been replaced by a newer span that opened in September 2000.
• In 1993, the district was expanded by the addition of more than two hundred contributing properties over an area of approximately 150 acres

Miner's Memorial Park

Miner's Memorial Park is located off of Route 78 in Morgan County, 9 miles from McConnelsville, 16 miles from Caldwell (Noble County).

• Miner's Memorial Park is dedicated to the miners was a part of the surface mining from 1969 to 1991.
• The Big Muskie bucket is the centerpiece of Miners' Memorial Park.
• The Big Muskie was the World’s Largest Dragline and one of the seven engineering wonders of the world! 
• It is said to be the largest dragline and machine designed that could walk across the earth.

• The giant bucket weighs 460,000 pounds empty and has the volume of a 12-car garage.
• Big Muskie was a coal mining Bucyrus-Erie dragline excavator owned by the Central Ohio Coal Company, weighing 13,500 short tons and standing nearly 22 stories tall.
• It operated in the U.S. state of Ohio from 1969 to 1991.

Roscoe Village

Roscoe Village is a restored Ohio and Erie Canal town located in Coshocton.

• Roscoe Village, was laid out in 1816. 
• It was originally named Caldersburgh after its founder James Calder. 
• After going bankrupt, the Coshocton merchant moved across the Muskingum River to some land he had managed to retain.

• In 1830, two prominent citizens petitioned the state legislature to rename the village Roscoe in honor of William Roscoe, the famous English author and abolitionist of the time. 
•  Until the great flood of 1913, the canals continued to operate, but the coming of the railroads marked the passing of the canal heyday.

• In 1960, the idea of historical restoration in Roscoe came to prominence at the presentation of the Canal Days mural the distinguished American artist Dean Cornwell painted for Coshocton's 1961 Sesquicentennial Celebration.

Beaver Creek State Park

Beaver Creek State Park is a 2,722-acre (1,102 ha) Ohio state park in Columbiana County, Ohio in the United States. The park is near East Liverpool on the banks of Little Beaver Creek. It is open for year-round recreation including, camping, boating, hunting, fishing and hiking.
